Inspired by shifting trends in the culture and production of nostalgic items, godless children | holy objects is a meditation on the role photographic keepsakes play in our daily lives and in American culture as a whole. The project explores a number of materials, mediums, and approaches—from hand-made postcards to algorithmically-designed books—and ponders how the shifts from personal-to-public and unique-to-mass-produced is changing our relationships with the items that tell our individual histories.
A version of this project debuted as an interactive installation at San Jose State University's Belcher Gallery in August 2018.
